"Thank You for Lending a Hand"

This was a piece originally intended for a Going Green Art showing, however the gallery did not respond to my emails so I finished it as a personal piece in celebration of Earth Day.

So, last week I started some part time work with a props and costume studio, Martin Izquierdo studio. Got to paint a bunch of eyes for the Sobe lizard costumes (the ones in the commercial dancing to Thriller), and stretching fabric for skin and stuff. was really cool and got to meet a lot of nice people. As of now though the project is done and they are slow for the next week or two, so maybe then I'll get to go back to work for them.

My bday was Saturday March 15th and as the clock turned over from Friday friends were giving me shots of booze and beers, then bfast at a little restaurant as of 4:30 am..... then the awful weekend train service home.... Finally got home at 6:30 in the AM, got like 2.5 - 3 hours of sleep and had to be at work by 10am, with a still crappy train schedule.

Post work I went to hang out with my girlfriend and had a pretty nice and relaxing evening, some Italian food for dinner followed by yummy asian made cake from Jes Bakery (very fluffy and not overly sweet) mmm mmmm.

These past two days, gf has been painting at home trying to catch up to classwork. I set some time aside to just be by myself as no work scheduled until after Easter. So far I've sketched some new characters and rough drafted a little bit more back story for a comic idea thats I've been working on and off for a while.

Aside from that I've read some books and watched some awful things that people recommended to me.... oddly enough people suggest I watch hentai a lot,... so I checked out "Bible Black", which was kind of a silly story and the artwork wasn't really impressive, and started watching "Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend" Which I actually like as a story, pretty grisly and over the top, but interesting.

Oddly enough the only difference between most of the anime I've seen and these hentai is that theres more focus on the sex. Regular anime is like sexual tension, hentai is just sex. Additionally I've come to some questions,... like, why does demonic possession always result in women becoming hermaphrodites? And why does everyone ejaculate gallons? Also, apparently women love to get raped.... I mean,... wtf?

Yeah, so thats my time. Kinda feel overloaded on the whole tentacle porn scenario so I'm gonna go do some layout sketched for a painting. pizeace

Work that I like tends to have that effect on me.

Sunday I wound up taking the trains all the way into the Bronx (Pelham Bay) then catching a bus to City Island. I had scheduled a photo modeling session with an artist whose work I really liked.

First of all City Island is such a nice little place, its in the simplest terms a tight little fishing village community in small little adorable houses. I loved it.

ANywho, the guy was very nice and very professional. I had started out on the agreement of a 2 hour shoot at $80/hour (normally I work for $100 an hour for photo work, but I really liked his previous shoots and he had agreed to give me copies of the pictures as well). Wound up working with him for 4 hours, $100 an hour, he said I was surprisingly even more professional then I had made myself out to be, and he got a lot of great shots. Hes going to give me a CD of a selection of the images that he feels are the best (yay portfolio) as well as give my info to other photographers he knows who might be able to give me more work.

I like modeling because I'm helping someone else to achieve their creative imagery using my body and surroundings as a medium for the art. I know it sounds a little bit pompous, but its just that I'm comfortable with my body and nudity has never been an issue for me.

...................

Also today I finished my third week of modeling at an art class at FIT, so the checks should be in soon. Still looking for a new full time job, but the model work I enjoy and since its spaced out and I'm working with different people all the time it doesn't stagnate.

So I'm in a better mood

I dont know.

I have finally returned to LJ after a very very long time away. Mixtures of business, relationships, workload, procrastination and a touch of self loathing at varying points for different reasons.

My life, I have come to realize is ass backwards. I'm not sure how to turn around and go forward again because I'm too busy digging myself deeper into nothingness. I'm not quite sure how to take a step forward anymore, its like I've come to a halt.

Workwise I have noticed that I dont like doing 9 - 5 jobs, I've done everything under the sun but somehow I grow to hate them all and I cant do something I hate for a living or else I feel like I'm going to explode. I've worked maybe 2 or 3 jobs that I actually enjoyed and worked for a very very long time, but they pay shitty.... So I ask myself, do I continue working things that offer me no positive thoughts to my life, but give me more money,... (can money buy me happiness? no, but it can buy a way out of debt) or do I work jobs I like but barely make ends meet?

.....

I want to pick none of the above and keep searching for my purpose, but I feel like maybe I'm fantasizing, not quite delusions of grandeur, because I think I'm too much of a realist sometimes. I know life has a habit of sucking, but I still think theres a way for me to live comfortably and be happy, I just have yet to find it....

bleh.

My sleep schedule seems to have been drawn on a tissue thats been used to blow ones nose (do you understand that sentence? I sure dont) I'll sleep for anywhere from 4-6 hours in a 24 hour timeframe if I'm lucky, then I can't sleep forever. I dont drink coffee or soda, my only caffeine intake if from a cup of green tea every other day at most, aside from that just water. I think its all the stress about schoolwork and moneywork and family stuff, etc. I miss the good ole days of going out to galleries every weekend with the crew.

These days everyone is working constantly and the only time we hangout is while working on projects in the same room or just going out to eat, which I also dont seem to do that much anymore,... Oh noes!!! I've finally turned into an art student!!! AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

Last night I got to go see one of my former teachers at his first gallery show. It was pretty interesting, chatting with him about his artwork over a beer and some cheese (free food and booze are always good) he is such a cool guy I have to make sure I stop by his class to b.s. with him more often. Check out his site www.ZoharLazar.com and maybe go see the show as well.

I also realized how much I like the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn. Eventually when I have more than $10 to my name at any given point I think I'd like to move into a place over there.

In other news I added another crazy page to my sketchbook, so here it is

I've decided to slowly friend everyone that I can find online with similair interests, I have had no other real interest in updating this page aside from just keeping myself busy. However I think if I can actually find people who are interesting to me maybe I'll enjoy this more.

As for current things for now. I woke up this morning in a friends room and at first I totally did not know where I was because I had not intended on sleeping here. Anyway woke up and now I'm just taking a break from my paintings. Tired although I slept well, that seems to be a problem for me often, especially when the weather outside is shitty and I'm inside. Which is odd if you think about it in the sense that if I'm outside when the weather is shitty I feel better....

Anyway, I'm going to eat some food and take a hot shower to wake myself up. Lots going on these days and I need to get back on track.

Not feeling too well at the moment. Lots going on and things just seem to be wieghing heavily upon me right about now. Working on some painting for classes this morning and was taking a break to update this, eventually I'll get around to adding a link to here from my website, but for now this'll have to do.

Keep an eye out for updates coming later this week.

As usual I'm in one of those financial messes, but digging my way out little by little this time.

As for how I'm digging my way out, well I've gone back to being an art model, posing nude for figure drawing and photography, pay is good for the little bit of time that I actually have available to do it in. Also I'm going to start illustrating Chap-books, which seems interesting, little pay, but its a professional start for my illustration portfolio. In addition to that there is the possibility of having my illustrations used in an (in development) upcoming political magazine, which is quite an exciting project for me.

In other news, I'm busy and well.... thats not really news.

I've got alot of different things going on work and projectwise. Whcih is why I haven't been updating nearly as much as I would like to. Also the fact that I dont have a scanner readily available makes things a little more difficult. So, a few of the things going on are.

1. Concept art for an animated tv series.
2. Character designs for a video game.
3. Clothing designs for my own line of t-shirts.
4. Varying freelance work.
5. Getting packets together of artwork to send to companies that I would like to work with.

thats just my art related life, can't even go into the rest of it.

Anyway here is a little sketchbook piece that I recently added up on the site. Let me know what you think. Thanks

I've decided that I'm going to start a clothing design company, within the coming months I'll be working on several designs and once I'm satisfied with how they look I'll be printing a small number of t-shirts. Depending on how well the small run does I'll order more and hopefully it'll take off. If anyone is even remotely interested please let me know what sizes you wear and male or female, thanks.

I've decided to make this a more common thing to do, updating journal and such. Whats happened since I last wrote in here. Well I've lived in Brooklyn for a month now, and I like it sofar. My current job has lost its luster and I think its time to move on to something new, so once again I'm in search of a new job. Going to try around at a few different places and see what comes up. Wish me luck.

Also I've started my apprenticeship at a tattoo Lou's on long island. A friend of mine works there and offered me the chance a few years ago and recently I was thinking about it alot, so I figured I'd try it out to see what its like first, then if things work out I'll stick around and learn what I can from these guy who are awesome.

And, I've re-taken up my interest in paintball. I want to play again so bad. I've also got an idea that I really want to work with and see what I can do. More in the future on that project though.

Also, newest entry

So I put down the deposit on a place in Bushwick, its about a 20 minute train to union square, and 30 mins to east 23rd st.
I'm moving in on May 1st. and will officially be a Brooklyn peep. The room is pretty small but I'll have enough room to create my artwork which is a big plus and also the other roomies both seem really cool. Once I'm done with move in and get some time to take pics I'll post em up for you all. Have a good night

I updated the site for the first time since last week. I've just been insanely busy with things that need to be done. As of May I'll be updating regularly again but for right now this is the best I can do. I also just added this piece that I think came out pretty cool. Lemme know what you think.

So, I've been looking for a new place to live, trying to find one to move into as of May 1st if possible. I've checked out a few places, mostly horrible places with either no space, or lots of space and deteriorating building/ everything. Some places just flat out lied about what was there, and almost every one of them was overcharging. Today I'm going to check out what seems like it might be a really really nice place in williamsburg, rent is affordable even for me and the place looks great in pics, its just a matter of seeing it and meeting to roomies. Wish me luck

Aside from that sorry for lack of updates on the site but school is insanely busy this time of year, as its the end of it. Hopefully I'll get alot of my work done this weekend and be able to chill out a little this upcoming week. Hopefully.
